What is an Intoxalock ignition interlock

An Intoxalock ignition interlock device is a state-of-the-art breath alcohol monitoring device that integrates a fuel cell based breathalyzer with your vehicle’s ignition system. When a breath sample is submitted, Intoxalock tests the sample for the presence of alcohol. Using a fuel cell technology developed by Intoxalock for the ignition interlock industry, the device will display the breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) of the sample on the LED screen.* If the BrAC is below the legal standard for your state, the vehicle will start. If a violation is detected, the vehicle will not start until a safe sample has been provided.*When allowed by requiring state

State and Federal mandates require that most ignition interlock devices be calibrated every 30 to 60 days. In independent studies and approved by the State of Iowa, the Intoxalock has been proven reliable for over 180 days. It is currently the only ignition interlock device to achieve this high standard.

Intoxalock Legacy utilizes fuel cell technology, the basis for all Intoxalock devices, to ensure the highest levels of accuracy, precision, and reliability. Intoxalock fuel cell technology is also currently used in Intoxalock Legacy Plus and eLERT ignition interlock devices in conjunction with advanced reporting features to help our customers meet the most rigorous local and state requirements.
